Roofing Solutions

With over 40 years experience in installing flat roofs, we recognise the key factors which ensure successful roofing installations and a successful roofing business;

Skills  There are many excellent roofing products available today, but if they are not installed correctly they will not perform adequately on the roof – leading to leaks and return visits by the contractor.  At AAC, all of our operatives are trained & experienced in the particular roofing systems and are supervised by competent and qualified managers.

Health & safety  All AAC staff are fully trained in all relevant aspects of roofing health & safety, including, but not limited to, Work at height, Asbestos awareness and Abrasive wheels.  Our policy is for zero accidents.

Safe working  As a means of avoiding roof fires we have adopted a policy of using only ‘no-flame’ roofing systems.  This benefits our operatives, building occupants, site visitors and the property itself.

Advice  Our long experience of roofing enables us to provide the client with competent and impartial advice on roofing issues.  Following discussion with the client regarding requirements and budgets we can advise on the most appropriate specification and roofing system.

Customer service  While we relish winning new contracts and clients, we pride ourselves an maintaining our existing client-base and winning repeat business.  We therefore pay close attention to the needs of all of our clients.

Prelasti – EPDM Prefabricated Sheeting

Prelasti prefabricated EPDM sheeting is ideal for flat or pitched roofs.  Roof sheets can be prefabricated off-site to any size and shape, according to the requirements of the project and the appropriate fixing method.

Sheets are formed from rolls of EPDM which are jointed together using a hot-vulcanisation process which is carried out under strictly controlled factory conditions.  While sheets of up to 1,000m2 are possible, for roofing applications sheet sizes in the range of 100-500m2 are more common.

Installed without hot-works, the Prelasti roof coverings are suitable for new-build or refurbishment projects, on all types of roof construction.  Fixing is by adhesive bonding, patent mechanical fixing, or within inverted roof build-ups.  They can also be installed as an overlay system on existing roof coverings where a survey deems this an appropriate method.

New-build and Refurbishment

We operate in both the New-build and Roofing Refurbishment sectors and fully understand the differing needs of our clients and customers in each. While work-at-height safety is paramount to both types of customer (and to us) the different logistical issues associated with new-build and refurbishment introduce differing degrees of complexity in carrying out the roofing works, particularly where we are required to remove an existing roof from an occupied and working building.

Our Managers and Supervisors will be happy to discuss the safe and execution of the roofing works with you, together with efficient phasing of the work in order to comply with a construction programme or minimise the impact of the works on your premises.

Survey & Inspection

An important part of roofing refurbishment is an initial inspection and assessment of the roof.  This will determine what the existing construction comprises of, what condition it is in, and what remedial or refurbishment works are required.

Our experienced roof surveyors will carry out an inspection, and then following discussion with the client to determine their requirements for the roof in terms of life expectancy, guarantees and budgets, will offer a detailed proposal and quotation for any required works.

The proposal will be based on our selection of the roofing system which is most appropriate for the particular roof and circumstances.

Roofing systems

Our roofing contracting works are solely based on the application of cold-applied systems, and we have adopted a ‘no-flame’ policy.  This gives our clients peace of mind when it comes to the inherent risks associated with torch-applied systems.

The main types of cold-applied roofing systems which we offer, and for which we are manufacturer approved installers, are;

  • Hot-air welded single-ply thermoplastic membranes (Protan, Sika Sarnafil)
  • EPDM – prefabricated sheeting (Prelasti), Heat-welded Fleece/EPDM (Superseal)
  • Liquid-applied waterproofing
